The 4th China-International Organ Donation Conference in Kunming, China showcases advancement of deceased organ donation in the country

  • Managing Trustee, Dr.Sunil Shroff was invited to attend the The 4th China-International Organ Donation Conference (CIODC) & the Belt & Road Symposium on Organ Donation Development and International Cooperation in Kunming, China from 6th December 2019 to 8th December 2019 for 3 days. The conference was held at the Haigeng Conference Center in Kunming of Yunnan Province.  He was also invited to give a talk at the China Red Cross Society that coordinates Organ donation in Kunming to share his experience of deceased donation program in India. Dr. Avnish Seth from Delhi and advisory board members of the foundation were also invited to the meeting.

     

    China has shown remarkable progress in deceased donation in the last few years (graph given below). The conference was to reiterate their stand toward ethical practices in deceased donation. There were almost hundred international invitees to the meeting with representation from the Transplantation Society, WHO and other International societies and a declaration was signed in line with the WHO principles to promote the deceased donation in the ‘One Belt One Road’ countries.
