Updated on Thursday, July 3, 2025
  • An organ donation awareness session was conducted at DAV Public School (DAVPS) Velachery Chennai  on July 1, 2025 at 2.00pm. Ms Sangeetha K, Project Executive, MOHAN Foundation and Ms Keertthana S, studying in SRM Institute of Science and technology, Kattankulathur were the resource persons.

The session was conducted by Organ Donation Ambassador and intern Ms Keertthana to educate class 12th students (70) about the importance, procedures, and ethical aspects of organ donation. They were given information brochures and a green ribbon.

The awareness began with an informative presentation  on what, who, when what and how of organ donation followed by recipient  stories that deeply moved the students. Ms Sangeetha then gave an orientation to eye donation.

The session encouraged open conversation, allowing senior students to ask questions and clarify queries.  These queries were answered by Ms Sangeetha. Students asked questions, “like how can we register ourselves for this noble cause?, How can one be a donor?”. A  fun interactive quiz was conducted and the badges were distributed as gifts to a few of the students who gave the right answers.

Many students were inspired to consider organ donation as a noble act that can save lives and openly responded that they will discuss it with their parents. Through this session, we realized the power of awareness in changing mindsets and breaking taboos and myths surrounding the concept of organ donation.

On further discussion with the principal Mrs Sujatha,  another session is planned for the end of July 2025. MOHAN Foundation thanks the management, principal  and staff of DAV Public School for this opportunity  to inspire a sense of compassion, empathy, and community service among the students
