Mr. Raja Krishna Tirumalasetty, aged 65 years, a retired engineer from A.P. Agro, had an angioplasty in a private hospital following which he had a massive bleed in the brain, and was declared brain dead on 10th April 2011. His son, Mr. Ravi Shanker Tirumalasetty of Oracle Corporation had earlier visited MOHAN Foundation office to gather details about kidney transplantation for one of his relatives. He was so impressed with the work of MOHAN Foundation that he immediately pledged to donate his organs.
When doctors declared Mr. Raja Krishna as “brain dead”, Mr. Ravi Shanker recollected his visit to MOHAN Foundation and his pledge to donate organs. Without losing any time, he contacted MOHAN Foundation expressing his wish to donate his father’s organs. Mr. Raghuram, Convenor of MOHAN Foundation swung into action immediately and facilitated the process of organ donation.
Mr. Raja Krishna’s kidney, liver and eyes were retrieved and transplanted in city hospitals. This becomes 109th organ donation facilitated by MOHAN Foundation, Hyderabad, and the third this year.
