Social Work Students visit MOHAN Foundation as part of observation visit

  • MOHAN Foundation Chennai Office welcomed PG I year Social Work Students of Nazareth College of Arts and Science, Avadi for their observation visit on 30ith August 2017, Wednesday.

     

    The day’s program started with formal introduction and followed by history of MOHAN Foundation and discussion on Central and State GO’s and Rules and Acts by Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, students were given big picture about the activities, tie ups, and achievements of the foundation. This impressed the student and made them to proceed to the next session which was handled by Mr. Siva Shankar and Mr. Jayaprakash Daniel on introduction to MF Website. Sections on statistics, donor memorial and training courses were shown in greater details. It was a discussion session in which students interacted with our staff member and clarified their queries on concepts on organ donation. Interesting thoughts evolved through this visit.

     

    Third session was on the Relevance of Transplant Coordinators and Grief Counsellors’ handled by Mrs. Sujatha Suriyamoorthi, this session focused on the role importance played by a transplant coordinator and role of a grief counsellor, mandation of appointing a Transplant Coordinator in a hospital which has got a Transplant unit and other important work by these people. Mrs. Sujatha’s presentation gave a big picture on this topic and helped the 16 students to understand more about the coordination process.

     

    Final session was practical in which the students were asked to take part in online survey and try the donor pledging format, students actively took part in this and gave their responses.
