Sensitization programme on Organ Donation conducted for the faculty of Ambedkar Law College at Deekshayabhoomi Square, Nagpur

  • On April 30th 2022, an awareness programme on Organ Donation was conducted for faculty members of Ambedkar Law College at Deekshayabhoomi square, Nagpur. Dr. Varsha Deshpande - NSS program officer invited Dr. Ravi Wankhede to conduct a session on organ donation and transplantation.

    Dr. Wankhede- Director of MOHAN Foundation, addressed the audience and began the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision and engaged the participants by asking, what do they feel about organ donation. Thereafter, the following topics were highlighted and discussed in detail:

    1. Concept of Organ donation and Transplantation
    2. Who can donate?
    3. Concepts of Brain and Circulatory death
    4. Difference between organs and tissues.
    5. Difference between Living Donor and Deceased Donor
    6. Procedure of eye, skin, and bone donation.
    7. The importance of a donor card.
    8. Common myths and facts about Organ donation and was explained.
    9. THO Act was explained.
    10. MOHAN Foundation’s helpline number was shared with the audience.

     

    Around 50 faculty members participated in the event and 10 of them signed the pledge forms, they thanked Dr. Wankhede for giving them a lot of insights about organ donation. Dr. Varsha Deshpande gave the vote of thanks and expressed her heartfelt appreciation to MOHAN Foundation.
