Sensitization program on Organ Donation for Nurses of Mure Memorial Hospital, Nagpur

  • MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mrs. Sulekha V. K. Principal of Mure School of Nursing and Mure Memorial Hospital of Nursing, Buldi, and Nagpur to give a talk for Hospital nurses & trainees about organ donation & transplantation on 17th November 2014.

     

    Mr. Bulu Behera Transplant Coordinator, conducted talk on the organs and tissue donated in case of living donation, after Brain death and after natural death. He emphasized the need to donate eyes, skin, kidney, liver, heart, lungs, pancreas etc. He also gave information about the Brain death, wherein several organs and tissues could be donated. He explained the role of nurses  in identification of brain dead patients.

     

    Question raised by participants

    1)       If we will sign pledge form then after our death how will MOHAN Foundation know?

    2)       How is brain death diagnosis done?

    3)       If the donor card holder signs the pledge form in Maharashtra & he is from other state then what is the process of organ donation?

     

    Approximately 60 nurses and trainees participated in the sensitization program & 1 picked the donor card. Those who have taken pledge form  said they wanted to discuss with family.
