Sensitization about Organ Donation conducted for Nurses at Nursing Hostel of GMCH Nagpur

  • On 9th November 2020, MOHAN Foundation in association with Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation conducted Sensitization about Organ Donation for nurses residing at Nursing Hostel of G.M.C.H, Nagpur. It was held jointly by Mrs Chaya. Jhadhav (In-charge Sister) and Ms Prarthana Dwivedi (Transplant Coordinator)

    Ms Prarthana introduced MOHAN Foundation as an NGO working passionately for deceased organ donation past 23 years. She explained the difference between Cardiac Death & Brain Death in-depth. Then she elaborated about the organs & tissues that can be donated by both the cases. She also introduced the public about new advances like Hand Donation. She explained about tissue donation (skin, eyes & bones).  Then she discussed about Organ Donations that can happen in case of Brain Dead case and number of lives that can be saved by giving the examples of successful transplant stories articles and news about green corridor which was very familiar to the participants.

    Also she discussed about Myths around Organ donation mostly families of deceased donor have and how to debunk them by explaining relevant facts. She described the importance of discussing about Organ Donation within the family and to carry Donor Card always in purse or wallet. About 55 nurses attended the session.
