Sensitization Programme on Deceased Organ Donation conducted at Nagpur college of Pharmacy, Wanadongari, Nagpur

  • On 24th February 2022, a sensitization programme on deceased organ donation was conducted at Nagpur College of Pharmacy Wanadongari, Nagpur. Dr. Nerendra Ruprao Dighade, principal of the college invited Mr. Bulu to conduct this session.

    Mr. Bulu introduced himself and MOHAN Foundation and started his presentation on organ donation. It was an interactive session and the students actively participated in the session. He then discussed the following concepts:

    1. What is organ donation & who can donate organs?
    2. What is the difference between coma and brain death?
    3. Difference between Natural Death and Brain death?
    4. After Brain death, which organs & tissues can be donated?
    5. Procedure of eye, skin and body donation
    6. Donor card and its importance
    7. MOHAN Foundation’s Helpline number was shared with the audience
    8. Importance of THO act 1994
    9. Role of NOTTO, ROTTO-SOTTO & ZTCC

     

    50 students participated in the session out of which 10 students pledged their organs. The concept of organ donation was new to them. They appreciated Mr. Bulu for presenting a meaningful and valuable topic - organ donation.

    Questions asked by participants

    1. Within what duration of time the organs of the deceased person should be retrieved?
    2. What is the age limit for organ donation?
    3. Case story of a Brain death person was asked to share

     

    Mr. Arun Tiwari, a student of Nagpur Pharmacy College gave the vote of thanks and appreciated MOHAN Foundation’s activities in creating awareness about organ donation to the general public.
