On 23rd June 2018, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mr. Raghu Patil to conduct an organ donation awareness session for senior citizens group. The program was held at Dagadi Park, Sitabuldi, Nagpur. Mr. Bulu Behera, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur was deputed for the talk.
After sharing a brief introduction about MOHAN Foundation and its activities, Mr. Bulu Behera spoke about what is Organ Donation, why is it needed, who can be donors and process of organ donation and transplantation. He also clarified - in case of Natural death which tissue can be donate, in case of Brain death which Organ and Tissue can be donate. He discussed the various barriers, myths and fact relating to organ donation. He requested the audience to use MOHAN Foundation website and helpline number to get more information.
A lot of queries were asked regarding the process of organ donation as well as the process of registration on the waiting list. Mr. Bulu Behera answered all the queries to the satisfaction of the participants.
18 senior citizens attended the session and 3 of them signed consent form and took donor cards.
