Senior Citizens pledge for Organ and Whole Body Donation

  • MOHAN Foundation was invited by Dignity Foundation to give a talk on Organ Donation to their Senior Citizens. This initiative was by Ms. Gayathri, Senior Manager & Chapter Head, Dignity Foundation. They event was organized on 15.03.2015 at Indian Officers Association Hall, Royapettah, Chennai.

     

    Dignity Foundation is an NGO works as a support system for senior citizen and also runs Dementia Day Care Center, Free Ration Service, Loneliness Mitigation Programme and Helpline Services. A two day (14th and 15th March 2015) health care event was organized for the seniors Citizens, on Alternate Medicine and on Allopathic medicine. On the second day, a 20 minute slot was allocated for Organ Donation.

     

    Ms. Kavitha. S, Marketing Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation was deputed to address the gathering. She spoke on following topics:

    • Importance and need of organ donation
    • Types of donations – live and deceased donation
    • Difference between Natural Death, Coma and Brain Death
    • Organs and tissues  that can be donated in cardiac death and brain death
    • Eye donation
    • Importance of Donor card, helpline number and website
    • Whole Body Donation
    • Transplant Coordinator Training Programme

     

    Nearly 100 senior citizens attended the session and all took Donor card and Whole Body Donation Form.
