The Department of BCA (Computer Applications), S.A. College of Arts & Science, Chennai organized a guest lecture on organ donation for its students on August 23, 2025. Ms. Sujatha Suriyamoorthi, Associate Director – Courses, was invited as the guest speaker for the session. Nearly 50 students and faculty members participated in the program.
The program began with a welcome address by Dr. Chandrasekar P, Head of the Department. The lecture provided students with an overview of the key aspects of organ donation, including the need for organ donation, the legal framework and guidelines, common myths and misconceptions, and how a single donation can save multiple lives. Other topics covered included the significance of carrying a donor card, the importance of discussing one’s decision with family members, the process of facilitating organ donation in hospitals, the concept of a green corridor, and the critical role of family consent in making organ donation possible.
As part of the program, a few videos were screened showcasing how organ donation gives recipients a second chance at life and explaining the concept of brain death.
