Rotary Club of Chennai Launches ‘Gift of Life’ during Organ Donation Day

  • On the occasion of Organ Donation Day on 13th August 2020, the Rotary Clubs of District 3232 launched a programme called ‘Gift of Life’ during the inaugural BODHI event. MOHAN Foundation was invited to address the club members about organ donation. This was the inaugural event of their BODHI event called the Gift of Life. List Chairman, CSH BODHI Team, Rtn. Satish Kumar of Rotary Club of Adambakkam coordinated the proceedings.

    A few others clubs including Rotary Club of Chennai Radiance, Adambakkam and Guindy had also joined together to create awareness about this cause. Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance officer, MOHAN Foundation was the speaker for the evening. She gave insights into the need, how and when of organ donation and the related procedures. There was a lot of discussion on skin and eye donation, procedures for brain stem death testing and role of government in patient waitlist and donor registry. Questions related to validity of the donor card and opt-in process was also answered.

    The participating clubs had made motivating videos that were played at the start of the session. A competition for the young rotaractors was announced. A new special donor pledge registration link was inaugurated by the District Trainer PDG Srinivasan.
