  • On June 28, 2014 an awareness session on organ donation was conducted by MOHAN Foundation, Delhi-NCR in association with Organ Receiving and Giving Awareness Network (ORGAN) India – an initiative by the Parashar Foundation, in the community centre of MMTC Colony, Adchini, New Delhi. The session was organized by Ms Sunayana Arora, ORGAN India.

The participants were residents (a mixed group of ladies and men) who belonged to the MMTC family. MMTC is the largest foreign trading company in India and has been in existence for almost five decades.

The talk focused on concepts of organ donation and transplantation, the law (THO act), brain death and its causes, myths around organ donation and tissue donation. A short film on 'brain death' was also screened to give the group clarity on brain death and how it is different from coma. A very intense discussion followed the presentation and numerous queries were raised. Questions were asked on brain death, within what time can different organs be donated, whom to be contacted and within how many hours of death.

Around 30 residents attended the talk and each one of them signed the donor card.
