On February 17, 2015 MOHAN Foundation was invited for an awareness session on organ donation by the Gauri Shankar Charitable Trust, a registered trust based in Delhi.
Every year on Mahashivratri Day the trust organises mass community marriage for the underprivileged couples. This year too the ceremony was organised at Ajmal Khan Park, Karol Bagh where 12 couples were married.
This being a good platform for educating masses, a session on organ donation was organised and coordinated by Mr. Narinder Chugh (Trustee, Gauri Shankar). More than 1000 people attended the ceremony.
Dr. Muneet Sahi gave a talk in Hindi explaining the concept of organ donation and brain death. She also explained about eye donation and stressed on the need to promote eye donation at individual level.
Around 100 people attended the session and 51 donor cards were picked up.
