Positive steps initiated by young champs for positive outcome….

  • MOHAN Foundation was invited by the trainees of Cognizant, an IT company to put up a stall on 31. 01.2013 and 01.02.2013.  The transplant coordinators Ms. Veena, Ms. Kavitha, Mr. Issac and Mr. Anand interacted with the staff and trainees to explain the following topics:  

     

    • Types of Donors
    • Difference between Natural Death and Brain Death
    • Difference between Brain Death and Coma
    • Organs that Can Be donated
    • Time of preservation of Organs
    • Importance of Donor Card

     

    There were around 420 trainees. Mr.Adarsh, Trainee, Cognizant gave a brief introduction about organ donation to the batch. Then the trainees were guided to meet the staff of MOHAN Foundation to clarify their doubts.

     

    The trainees raised a few queries like:

     

    1. If a person is immunized against rabies, can he be a Organs Donor?
    2. If change mind after pledging for the Donor card, what I have do?
    3. Will the body be disfigured after donation?
    4. What is the success rate of Organ Donation?
    5. Whether person with O +ve  or O -ve blood group  donate organs to everyone?
    6. Does Rh typing of blood makes any difference in Organ Donation?

     

    The queries were answered by the Transplant Coordinators. Nearly 279 expressed their support for the noble cause by picking up Donor Card. The Organ Donation Awareness stall was concluded on 01.02.2013 with the speech given by Dr. Amalorpavanthan, Convenor, Cadaver Transplant Programme and Dr. Vijay Kumar, Nephrologist, Chennai Kalliappa Hospital, / Billroth Hospital, Chennai.
