Play school organises a talk on organ donation for young parents on Independence Day

  To celebrate 69^th Independence Day on 15^th Aug 2015, Bud2kidz play school, Villivakkam, Chennai initiated an awareness talk on Organ Donation. Mr. Rajendra Babu invited MOHAN Foundation to give an awareness talk on Organ Donation. Ms.Gieetha Transplant Coordinator was deputed to give the talk.

  The programme began with a welcome address followed by flag hoisting by Ms. Vasantha Venkatesh, Counselor of Villivakkam then Mr. Rajendra Babu explained the importance of event and Ms.Gieetha explained the concepts of Organ Donation to the parents and the staff.

  The following topics were covered during the talk:

  • Activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the Deceased Organ Donation programme
  • Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
  • Difference between Brain death and Coma
  • Importance of donor card & importance of the consent from the family
  • MOHAN Foundation website and helpline number as sources of information

  50 parents attended the morning celebrations and teachers picked the donor card and pledged their organs. 75 information brochures were distributed.
