  • On January 19, MOHAN Foundation conducted an orientation session on cornea donation at DRBCCC Hindu College in preparation for the walkathon scheduled the following day. Around 60 MSW students and NSS coordinators participated in the session.

The programme began with Dr. Hemal introducing the purpose of the session and highlighting the importance of creating awareness on cornea donation. This was followed by a short talk by Ms. Kanishka, who explained the significance of cornea donation, necessary precautions, and addressed common myths. Dr. Kaviyapriya from CODE Eye Care Clinic then spoke on eye health and common eye diseases such as dry eyes. Subsequently, Dr. Hemal delivered a session on organ donation and the work of MOHAN Foundation.

An interactive Q&A session followed, during which students raised questions on topics such as artificial cornea development, the usability of corneas from donors aged 80 years and above, and whether individuals who had undergone cataract surgery could donate their corneas. All queries were clearly addressed by Dr. Kaviyapriya.

To conclude the session, Mr. Hariharan, a kidney transplant recipient, shared his inspiring life journey before and after transplantation. MOHAN Foundation expressed its sincere gratitude to DRBCCC Hindu College and the MSW Department for providing the opportunity to conduct the orientation session.
