On 26th August 2016, MOHAN Foundation was invited by MV Hospital for Diabetes and Research Centre, Royapuram to speak on organ donation at their Founder's Day which has been celebrated for the past 20 years as a remembrance of Prof. M. Viswanathan's birthday. There were 300 staff members attending the function. MOHAN Foundation was represented by Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Mr. Periyanayagam. Both the organizations have signed an MOU to jointly conduct public awareness on “Organ care and Organ Share”. Dr Vijay. Dr Vijay Vishwanathan, Head & Chief Diabetologist, M.V.Hospital for Diabetes distributed scholarships to visually impaired girls.
Ms. Anjana welcomed the MOHAN Foundation team. A 5 minute animation movie – “Live beyond life” was played for the audience. Dr. Hemal spoke of brain death and the organs that can be donated after such a tragedy. She also touched upon the need for donation and the importance of carrying a donor card. Since it was the start of the Eye Donation week, she also mentioned about the need and importance of cornea donation. Mr. Periyanayagam read out a motivational poem on organ donation.
An information stall was set up and after the function 150 staff of the hospital came forward to pledge for organ donation.
