As part of the Daan Week, Piramel Enterprises Limited, a chemical manufacturing unit in Ennore requested MOHAN Foundation to conduct a session on organ donation for their employees. Mr Praveen a chemical engineer was the motivating officer for the campaign and Mr. Sivashanker of the HR department was the organiser. The interaction was organised on 5th October 2016 at 11 am in their training room.
Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, was deputed to conduct the session. A motivational movie was screened followed by “Live beyond Life” movie. Dr. Hemal trained Praveen to conduct the concept talk and assisted him in explaining Brain death. The demand and the supply gap was touched upon and thus the need for deceased donors to save lives was explained. What organs and tissues can be donated while living and when dead were enumerated. The law governing transplants and the ethics of organ allocation was explained. Donor stories touched the heart of the employees.
The discussion was about diabetes, liver diseases, cornea donation and the process after death. 25 employees attended the session and 11 took a donor card and pledged to save lives.
