Organ donation mass awareness drive at Kancheepuram

• The Rotary Clubs of Chennai and Kancheepuram invited MOHAN Foundation to assist in creating awarenesss about organ donation. This was as a part of a build up to an attempt at Guinness World Record on  ‘Maximum registration in one hour’ on 29^th March 2014.  Ananth, Jeyabal and Prakash Transplant coordinators of MOHAN Foundation were deputed  from 24^th to 26^th March 2014, to address the college students of Kancheepuram District.  In many colleges multiple sessions were held.  More than 4000 students were given a talk on the Concepts of Organ Donation. They were urged to come together on the 29^th Of March and pledge their organs.   Principals and heads of all Colleges promised to send their students to be a part of the event.

  The discussions that followed the sessions were based on:

  1. Whether liver failure patients will get an organ from MOHAN Foundation and what is the cost? 
  2. Where to register to get a kidney for a kidney failure patient?
  3. How will you response to toll free call after 6.00pm?
  4. What is the time gap between organ retrieval and transplantation?
  5. What is the status of heart transplant survival ratio?
  6. Value of donor card and family approval for donation.

  The mass awareness was organised by the Rotaractors of Chennai and Kancheepuram.
