Dialysis Technicians learn about Organ Donation at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital

  • On 22nd March 2014 MOHAN Foundation organized an awareness programme on Organ Donation and Brain Death for the Dialysis Technicians in the Hemodialysis unit at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH). Mr. Jeyabal, Mr.Prakash and Ms.Sunitha, Transplant Coordinators conducted the programme. Totally 19 technicians participated in the programme and actively interacted during the session.

     

    Mr. Jeyabal started the session with current status of the patients registered the kidney at RGGGH and also mentioned about the total number of waitlist for Kidney in TamilNadu and he moved into the concept and the important of Organ Donation and also covered the following topics;

    • What is Brain Death
    • Who can certify Brain Death
    • What are the differences between Brain death and Coma
    • How long organs can be preserved/ Time Factor
    • Organ Allocation
    • How to register for a kidney Transplant
    • Transplant coordinator training Programme
    • Importance of a Donor card

     

    At the end of the session all the participants signed the donor form.  Mr.Prakash give the vote of thanks for their support and cooperation.
