The Maitry Pariwar Sanstha celebrated the full moon festival of Kojagiri Purnima on October 9, 2017, at Vishu Ji Ki Rasoi with a talk on Organ Donation. Dr. Vibhavari Dani, President of Zonal transplant Coordination Committee (ZTCC) & Dr. Ravi Wankhede, Secretary ZTCC Nagpur & Director of MOHAN Foundation Nagpur, Mrs. Veena Wathore ZTCC Nagpur, Mr.Bulu Behera Transplant coordinator of MOHAN Foundation were invited to conduct an awareness session on Organ & Tissue Donation.
Dr. Ravi Wankhede spoke to the audience of 300 and focused on basic concepts of Organ donation and Transplantation, Brain death/coma, and Tissue donation after cardiac death. Transplantation of Human Organ Act 1994 was also explained. An audio clipping of our Prime Minister ‘Man- Ki- Bat’ a ‘Radio Talk’ on Organ donation grabbed the attention of audience.
Members of Maitry Pariwar Sanstha attended the awareness program. Information brochures and pledge forms were distributed among the members. Total 57 members filled the pledge forms and collected their donor cards.
