Organ donation awareness session with activities at District level science & cultural festival at Lemdeo Patil collage, Kuhi, Nagpur

  • On December 22, 2025 MOHAN Foundation conducted an organ awareness program at the District Level Science and Cultural Festival, at Mandhal, Taluka Kuhi, District Nagpur, in conjunction with Shri Lemdev Patil College and Vikram Public School and Junior College. The one-day event brought together students, faculty, and local citizens to engage with organ donation awareness through interactive demonstrations, presentations, and discussions. The initiative aims to increase awareness among students, teachers, and the community while fostering collaboration with local educational institutions for sustained efforts and future programs.

    MOHAN Foundation set up a stall featuring models of human organs to illustrate anatomy and the importance of organ donation. Exhibits included displays with “amazing facts” about organ functions and their impact on recipients’ lives, shown on hoardings behind the stall. Various games engaged participants, including a memory game where students matched identical pictures of organs and a sticker activity where they placed organ stickers in the correct order on human body posters, teaching accurate anatomy—many students participated enthusiastically. A memory card game for children added fun, educational interaction. Detailed information was provided on what organ donation is, why it is important, who can donate, the donation process, and its current relevance. Stickers with the MOHAN Foundation helpline number were pasted around the school premises and shared with students and professors.

    Ms. Veena Madam addressed the students, clarifying doubts about organ donation and sharing successful transplant stories to inspire participation. The session included a Q&A segment to address common concerns and myths. Discussions with the school director, principal, and professors explored ongoing collaboration with MOHAN Foundation.

     

    Key participants included Dr. Ganesh Kedar, Head of the Mathematics Department at RTM University, Nagpur; Mr. Dnyaneshwar Kadam, Principal of NPW College, Lakhni; Mr. Sanjay Dhobare, Professor of Physics at RTM Nagpur University; Mr. Abhay Deshmukh, Professor of Physics at RTM Nagpur University; Mr. Navalesh Wasnik; and Mr.Babasaheb Titarmare. Other dignitaries were Ms. Asha Gadhave, Ms. Vidya Tititirmare, Mr. Anand Gaidhane, Mr. Amol Nirgud, and additional attendees. MOHAN Foundation representatives Ms. Veena Wathore and Mr. Dhiraj Kurve led the programs. The principal, Dr. Navneet Kumar Lamba, and all dignitaries were thanked for their participation, with hopes for continued involvement in future events.

    The program drew students from Nagpur and neighboring districts, including Wardha and other colleges. A debate competition and science exhibition were part of the broader festival, where students performed exceptionally and received appreciation. Students, professors, and guests engaged actively in discussions, with many expressing interests in future MOHAN Foundation outreach at their institutions.

     

    The awareness session witnessed active participation from around 350 Students, teaching staff and villagers. the stall and activities effectively raised awareness by clarifying organ donation processes, eligibility, and answering common questions. Personal stories and expert interactions inspired students to consider registering or learning more. The event strengthened ties between MOHAN Foundation and local colleges, universities, and educational offices, paving the way for future programs. Participants, including school leadership, called for expanded awareness efforts.
