Organ, Tissue & Body Donation Awareness Session Conducted for ‘Jivhala’ Senior Citizen Forum at Suyog Nagar, Nagpur

  • On June 23, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur conducted an Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Session named ‘Avyav Daanavar bolu Kaahi ‘at Suyog Nagar, Nagpur with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of organ, tissue and body donation and encouraging participants to support this life-saving cause.

    On behalf of MOHAN Foundation, Mrs. Veena Wathore and Ms. Neha Sailwar facilitated the session. Mrs. Veena Wathore conducted the awareness session and shared detailed information on eye donation, organ donation and whole-body donation. She explained key concepts including what is brain stem death, the legal aspects of organ donation in India, eligibility criteria and age limits for donation and highlighted how donation can help transform and save lives. To strengthen understanding and create emotional connection, she also shared motivational real-life stories of organ donation and transplantation.

    During the interactive discussion, participants actively raised several questions such as:

    • What is the time limit for cornea donation after death?
    • How can families contact the concerned team for organ or eye donation?
    • What is the procedure for cornea donation?
    • What is the preservation time for donated organs and tissues?

    All queries were addressed in detail by Mrs. Veena Wathore to help participants gain clarity and confidence regarding the donation process.

    Following this, Ms. Neha Sailwar distributed informational brochures and shared information about the work and objectives of MOHAN Foundation, including awareness initiatives, helpline services and the process of taking an organ donation pledge.

    The session helped create awareness about the importance of organ and tissue donation, the donation process, and the life-saving impact of donation. Participants were encouraged to discuss organ donation within their families and communities and become advocates for the cause.

    Around 20 women attended the session and actively participated in the discussion.
