Organ Donation talk for nursing and admin staff of Kunal Hospital, Mankapur, Nagpur

  • On 17th November, 2022, Mr. Bulu Behera was invited by Mrs. Poonam  Lohane - Quality Manager of Kunal Hospital to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for hospital staff of Kunal Hospital. Mr. Bulu addressed the gathering and provided them information about the below contents:

    • Concepts of organ and tissue donation,
    • The types of death i.e., cardiac death and brain death
    •  Brain Death and the procedure to declare Brain Death through Apnoea test
    •  Procedure of deceased organ donation and live organ donation.
    • Procedure of skin and bone donation.
    • Barriers in the process of organ donation
    • Myths and facts related to organ donation and its impact on the society
    • Importance of Donor card

     

    Questions asked by participants were as follows:

    • What is the cost of hand transplant? How many hospitals in India perform hand transplant?
    • Cost of liver transplant?
    • What is the importance of donor card?

     

    30 nursing and admin staff participated in this programme, 8 of them pledged their organs. We thank Kunal Hospital for inviting us and supporting the cause of organ donation.
