  • eBay Inc. and PayPal, an online payment company in Chennai currently houses more than 1,000 employees. On 4.10.2012 they invited MOHAN Foundation to create awareness on organ donation for  their employees at their Chennai office. This initiative was taken by the “GIVE” Team of the company which takes care of the CSR activities. Mr. Karthic who initiated this programme as part of the Joy of Giving Week set up stalls in the cafeteria on each floor of the premises. They were manned by MOHAN Foundation staff.

Mr Karthic also arranged for a presentation on organ donation. A team of two members from MOHAN Foundation addressed about 15 employees who took time off their work to attend the presentation. The presentation covered the concepts organ donation, brain death and legal aspects related to organ transplantation. The employees asked various questions at the end of the presentation. Some of the questions raised were:

    a)    If a person does not pick up a donor card can he still donate his organs?

    b)   In split liver surgeries is the person who is donating at high risk?

    c)    How are organs allocated in the state?

These questions were answered and all the participants pledged to become organ donors by picking up a donor card.At the stalls, flash presentations were conducted at each floor of the premises. 65 employees took the donor cards after being educated about organ donation.
