On November 2, 2025, MOHAN Foundation conducted an online awareness session titled “Organ Donation – Pass the Gift of Life” for the members of Casagrand Association. The session saw the participation of over 15 enthusiastic members from the IT community, who joined to learn more about the vital cause of organ and tissue donation.
The event began with a welcome note from Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance Officer, MOHAN Foundation, who introduced the session and expressed gratitude to Mr. Thyaga, session coordinator and an organ pledge himself, for his initiative and continued support in facilitating the program.
Dr. Hemal then delivered an informative talk on Cornea Donation, highlighting the procedure, importance, and the impact of giving the “Gift of Sight.” Following her talk, Ms. Riya Singh, Intern at MOHAN Foundation, presented an engaging session on Organ Donation, explaining the types of donations, the process of registration and pledging, as well as the legal framework governing organ donation in India.
Following the introduction, Dr. Hemal Kanvinde began with an insightful talk on Cornea Donation, emphasizing the process and the significance of giving the Gift of Sight. This was followed by Miss Riya Singh, Intern at MOHAN Foundation, who delivered an engaging presentation on Organ Donation, elaborating on how organs and tissues can be donated, the procedures to formally pledge, and the legal framework governing organ donation in India.
Participants actively interacted throughout the session, posing insightful questions such as — “How do I pledge while getting a driving licence?”, “How is skin retrieved from the body?”, and “Can you share recent living donor stories?” Dr. Hemal addressed each query with detailed explanations, shared inspiring real-life donor stories, and clarified misconceptions — reinforcing the powerful message of giving and hope.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating the already pledged donors for their noble commitment and encouraging all participants to continue spreading awareness and busting myths about organ donation within their communities.
