MOHAN Foundation conducted an Organ Donation awareness program at Mar Gregorius College on July 19, 2010.
The event was attended by First and Second Year MSW Students. The highlight of the program was that as Ms Veena, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, was explaining about the Organ Donation concept and the need for it in the society, a girl quietly got up and shared her painful experience of her mother with Kidney Failure and on dialysis. Her mother is registered in the Cadaver transplant waiting list at G.H.
Ms Veena also shared with everyone that a cadaver organ donation was going on currently at G.H and so moved were the students that they immediately raised Rs 1000 towards transportation of body, for the poor family that had come forward to donate their loved one's organs.
At the end of the event, around 40 students took the Donor Card to pledge their organs.
