On August 15, 2025, on the occasion of Independence Day, the Indira Gandhi Government
Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH), Nagpur invited MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur to
conduct an Organ Donation Pledge and Signature Campaign under the ‘Angdaan Jeevan
Sanjeevani Abhiyan’.
The campaign was organized for faculty, staff members, medical students, and nursing
students of the institution with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of
organ donation and motivating individuals to pledge their organs.
The Independence Day celebrations began with the flag hoisting ceremony, which was
followed by a brief address by the dignitaries. During the program, Dr. Ravi Chavan, Dean,
IGGMCH, Nagpur, came forward and pledged to donate his organs, thereby setting an
inspiring example for the entire medical fraternity and students. His gesture highlighted the
critical role of healthcare leaders in promoting this noble cause.
In addition, Dr. Vaishali Shelgonkar, Professor and Head of the Department of Anesthesia,
IGGMCH, also pledged to donate her organs, further strengthening the message of saving
lives through organ donation.
The MOHAN Foundation project Manager, Ms. Veena Wathore facilitated the pledge and
signature drive, encouraging doctors, staff, and students to join the movement. Several
attendees signed the pledge forms and extended their support to the cause. The event
served as a significant step toward building a culture of organ donation within the medical
community. Nearly 85 people attended the drive & 12 took the pledge to donate Organs.
The participation of IGGMCH in the ‘Angdaan Jeevan Sanjeevani Abhiyan’ not only added
momentum to the national campaign but also reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to
social responsibility and saving lives.
