



An awareness session was organized to the young recruits (constables) of the police force of Tamilnadu at Battalion 3 training ground, Verapuram, Avadi Chennai in 7th April 2022. Team led by Dr. Hemal Kanvinde enlightened a wide range of audience of 254 police recruits and 10 experienced police officers.
The session began with a brief welcome speech from Mr Ravichandran, Commandant Office for the training unit. Followed by Ms Preetha Baskar, Project Executive MOHAN Foundation explained in detail the concept of Organ Donation and Transplantation, the session was interactive and effective. A few motivational videos were screened. This was followed by Dr Hemal Kanvinde’s talk, who briefed the role of police in deceased donation process, Mr Venkatesan, Head Constable supported the session by translating the session to the audience for better understanding.
The questions raised by the trainees were about the importance of informing parents about their choice, the cost of transplant and process of organ allocation and the role of TRANSTAN.
Over 54 trainee constables came forward to pledge for organ donation and received Donor Card. The session concluded with vote of thanks from Mr Venkatesan and loud police parade claps.
