Mrs Jalpa S. Lukhi invited MOHAN Foundation, Mumbai team to conduct talks and make the women aware about organ donation on 5th January 2017.
Mrs Jaya Jairam explained what organ donation was, why it is a need of the hour, which are the organs and tissues that can be donated and where India is with respect to other countries, on the world map.
The group was made aware that in case of cardiac death, not just the eyes, but the skin and a lot many tissues can be donated. They were further explained what brain death was and how one can donate their organs and thus save many lives. Also the myths and barriers to organ donation were covered in detail.
It was a fairly interactive session with lots of queries being raised by the group and these were addressed satisfactorily. Mrs Jaya Jairam ended the session by sharing her own story of what she went through when her own kidneys failed, how she received a kidney from her own mother and how all of this motivated her to join the cause of organ donation.
Many of the ladies pledged their organs and vowed to speak to their loved ones about it.
We are extremely grateful to Mrs Jalpa for inviting us to be part of this gathering, thereby giving us the opportunity to make more people aware of organ donation.
