Organ Donation Awareness programme at Mattru Thiranalikal Orunginaippu Nala Sangam, Manali

  • On 16th December 2017 MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mattru Thiranalikal Orunginaippu Nala Sangam, for an awareness programme about Organ Donation.  The Sangam works to support disabled people and were celebrating their 4th Anniversary. Mr. Siva Shankar and Mr. Raja represented MOHAN Foundation. Mr. Balaji, President, Mattru Thiranalikal Orunginaippu Nala Sangam welcomed MOHAN Foundation members and mentioned that most of the member have pledged their eyes and also donated eyes of the family members.

    Mr. Siva Shankar, Helpline Executive started the program by small introduction about MOHAN Foundation. He explained about Organ Donation, organs and tissues that can be donated, age limits for organs and the authority who allocates the organs. There were many questions asked by the members.

    Few examples are as follows:

    1. Can handicapped people donate organs?

    2. What are all the organs that handicapped people can donate?

    3. If one has high blood pressure and sugar, can that person donate organs?

    4. After organ donation, how will the organs be used?

     

    They answered many questions asked by Mr. Siva Shankar. All eagerly participated in awareness program. 40 members attended the program, of which 20 registered their names for Organ Donation and received Donor Cards.

    MOHAN Foundation thanks Mr. Balaji, Mr. Dhatchanamoorthy, and Mr. Sridhar who supported this social cause.
