Organ Donation Awareness in a Nursing Institute in Imphal

  • On 30th April 2019, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session for the students of Irengbam Thamcha Devi Nursing and Health Care Research Institute in Uripok, Imphal. Around 32 students from the General Nursing and Midwifery course were present at the session which lasted around 90 minutes.

     

    Ms. Roma Devi, Transplant Co-ordinator from MOHAN Foundation delivered the talk. The following topics were discussed during the session:

     

    • The necessity and importance of organ donation
    • Types of donors
    • The difference between brain death and circulatory death
    • Tissues and organs that can be donated in case of brain death and circulatory death
    • The importance of carrying donor cards

     

    The programme ended with a Q&A session with participants asking a few questions about hand transplants and process of registering as organ donors. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to the Irengbam Thamcha Devi Nursing and HealthCare Research Institute for the opportunity.
