On May 15, 2026, an organ and tissue donation awareness session was conducted at the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Borivali, with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of organ and tissue donation among the general public and staff members.
The session was facilitated by Mr. Nikhil Nagarkar, who provided detailed information about organ donation, its process, eligibility criteria, and the life-saving impact it can have on patients awaiting transplantation. Participants were sensitized about the need for organ donors and the importance of spreading awareness regarding this noble cause.
A total of 90 participants attended the session and actively engaged in the discussion. Important topics such as brain stem death, family consent, and the legal aspects involved in organ donation were discussed in detail. Special emphasis was given to the consent option provided while applying for a driving license and why expressing willingness for organ donation through the license is important in promoting awareness and encouraging conversations within families.
The audience was highly interactive and raised several thoughtful questions regarding the organ donation process, donor eligibility, family consent, and registration procedures. The active participation and positive response from the attendees made the session informative and impactful in promoting awareness about organ and tissue donation.
