On 26th August 2019, members of the Akhil Bharatiya Marwadi Mahila Sammelan (ABMMS) visited the MOHAN Foundation office in Chennai to understand the concepts of organ donation. The objective of the meeting also included planning a rally in support of organ donation in the city as a part of a multi-city rally initiative by the ABMMS group on 31st August 2019 in partnership with MOHAN Foundation
Around 15 members of the Chennai and Mogappair wings attended the session. Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance Officer gave them an insight on organ donation with a presentation and a film. Concepts elaborated upon included the why, how and when of organ donation. Discussion following the talk was on voluntary body donation, brain death, ventilation of patients in ICU, the importance of family members’ consent in fulfilling the wish of those registered as organ donors.
Plans for the rally were also finalised for both the wings of the Mahila Sammelan.
