  • On August 13th 2019, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mr. Ashok, HR Manager of Tradeplus (Online Brand of Navia Markets) to conduct an awareness programme for their staff on the occasion of Organ Donation Day.

More than 30 employees were present to listen to the talk that was delivered by Ms Ishwarya from MOHAN Foundation who was accompanied by Ms Susmitha Gurung, an intern at the Foundation. Information brochures were distributed to all those present before the talk.

Ms. Ishwarya began her session with a video tribute to all organ donors. She then briefly explained the concepts of organ donation and transplantation. She also spoke about a few rare transplants like hand and uterine transplants. A video of Shreya Siddanagowder, sharing her hand transplant story was also played for the audience.

During the session, one of the participants from the audience shared the story of his father who was in need of a heart transplant, but unfortunately passed away as a matching deceased donor did not become available in time for a surgery.

Few questions posed by the audience were:

    • What is the age limit for organ donation?
    • Is there a charge for the organ during transplantation?
    • What is the cost of organ transplantation in India?
    • Can brain death be inflicted on someone on purpose?

On the same day, a blood donation camp was also organized by Tradeplus through the Lions Club in the office premises in Nungambakkam. At the end of the programme three staffs registered themselves as organ donors. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to Mr. Ashok and Tradeplus for the opportunity.
