Organ Donation Awareness for Drivers

  Mr. Sharad Jighkar, Regional Transport Officer, Giripeth, Nagpur invited MOHAN foundation to conduct an awareness session on organ donation. It was for the drivers who apply for vehicle registration and driving license. The program was conducted in the training hall on 24^th  July 2018.

  Mr. Bulu Behera of MOHAN Foundation delivered a talk on Organ Donation. In his talk he explained for following points:

  v  What is Organ Donation and the Law?

  v  Who can donate organ?

  v  Type of organ donation.

  v  Brain Death Natural Death and Coma.

  v  Myths related to Organ donation.

  v  Deceased donation case in Nagpur.

  v  Kidney transplant hospital in Nagpur.

  v  Importance of Donor card, Helpline number and website.

  It was a very interactive session. 35 drivers were present at the talk. 4 drivers signed consent form and took donor cards.

  The drivers asked the following questions:

  • Is liver transplant possible in Nagpur?
  • After patient becomes brain dead whom to contact for organ donation?
