Organ Donation Awareness for Business Management Students

  • MOHAN Foundation was invited to deliver an awareness talk on organ donation for students of Diploma in Business Management on the 28th September 2018. The students were from the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Tilak Nagar in Nagpur.

    Dr. Ravi Wankhede Director of MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur conducted the session. Following a brief interaction with the students, the concepts of organ donation were explained using a presentation. A video clip explaining brain death was also shown to the participants. The presentation covered topics including types of death, brain death, organ and tissue donation in various scenarios, importance of safe driving and the registration process for organ donation.

    He also shared information about the rate of organ donation worldwide as well as India in particular, and requested the students to use MOHAN Foundation website and the helpline number for better understanding of the situation. The trainees had the following questions:

    • Whom to contact at the time of death?
    • Difference between organs and tissues
    • Difference coma and Brain death

    Around 30 students were present and 2 of them signed consent forms for pledging their organs and collected donor cards. At the end of the talk Ms. Rashami Date thanked Dr. Wankhede and the students. MOHAN Foundation thanks Dr. Anant M Deshmukh, Professor and Head of the Department of Business Management for the invitation and the participants.
