Organ Donation Awareness by a MOHAN Foundation Life Member in a UP school

  • On 25th October, 2018, Ms Ruchika Walia, Director of Walia Global Academy and a life member of MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness programme on organ donation. The programme was held at Walia Global Academy, a senior secondary school in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh. There were around 40 people present at the session which included the Principal, teaching and non-teaching staff.

    Ms Ruchika used MOHAN Foundation banners and other promotion material at the venue. Through a PowerPoint presentation she explained the concepts of organ donation and also covered the following topics:

    • Contribution of humans towards society and humanity
    • Self-satisfaction in becoming a donor
    • Ways to spread the message of organ donation
    • The Transplantation of Human Organs Act
    • Government approved centres for transplantation in different                states of India
    • Buying/selling of organs and human trafficking offences
    • Where and how to register a patient for transplant
    • How to contribute towards the initiatives of MOHAN Foundation

    This was a followed by a brief Q&A session. A senior faculty member pledged his organs the rest of audience were willing to do it after discussing with their family members. The event was reported in the local newspapers. MOHAN Foundation thanks Ms Ruchika for her support in spreading the message of the cause.
