Organ Donation Awareness by Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee

  • The Youth Wing of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee had organized for a stall to be put up in the Mominpura locality of Nagpur on 3rd July 2021 to spread awareness about organ donation among the residents. Mr. Fazul Rahman Qureshi, the Youth Wing President of the committee had invited Mr. Bulu Behera, Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation to set up and manage the stall in the Committee’s office premises.

    Mr. Behera spoke about the following during his interaction with the residents of Mominpura:

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of organ donation in India – donation rates and organ requirement
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age not being a constraint in organ donation
    • Myths and facts related to organ donation
    • Role of ZTCC in organ donation
    • Organ donor stories
    • Importance of donor cards
    • Registering in MOHAN Foundation’s website to pledge organs after death
    • MOHAN Foundation’s Mission and Vision

    More than 100 residents visited the stall, around 20 people signed up as organ donors, and the entire community was motivated and convinced to support the organ donation cause.
