World Health Day is a global health awareness day celebrated every year on 7th April. PSP Nursing College organized an awareness event on April 06, 2024 themed “My health, My right”, at their college auditorium and nursing students presented their thoughts. MOHAN Foundation was given an opportunity to create awareness on Organ Donation.
The session commenced with Ms. Devaki K-, faculty, PSP Nursing College delivering the welcome address, followed by Dr Abirami, The Principal, addressed the gathering and welcomed the guest speakers from MOHAN Foundation, Mr. Ganesh C, Marketing Coordinator and Ms. Arshiya Fathima, Helpline Executive.
The organ donation awareness began with an organ and tissue donation - movie based quiz program, by Ms. Arshiya, which the students enjoyed participating in and finding the answers. Mr. Ganesh, oriented the students on organ and tissue donation and explained the process in detail. He also spoke of Brain Death, time factor, getting a transplant, myths & scams and concluded with effective usage of organ donation helpline 1800 103 7100. Ms. Arshiya came on the stage again and explained about the online transplant coordinator courses and threw lights on the opportunities for the nursing students. A Video on online courses by Mohan Foundation and another explaining brain death were played. 199 students and 6 staff participated and made the event a more memorable one.
