Organ Donation Awareness at Jeevan Jyoti Blood Bank, Nagpur

  • On 31st December 2021, Jeevan Jyoti Blood Bank invited MOHAN Foundation to give a talk on organ donation for the blood bank staff and students of Matru Sewa Sangh Institute of Social Work (MSSISW) at the blood bank.

    Dr. Ravi Wankhede gave the following information regarding organ donation:

    • What is organ donation?
    • Who can donate organs?
    • Whom to contact for organ donation?
    • Brain death and natural death
    • What is bone marrow and who requires bone marrow transplant?
    • What can be donated by a living person and whom can they donate to?
    • Organs/tissues that can be donated after natural and brain death
    • Hand transplant
    • Carrying donor card
    • Using the helpline number
    • Transplant law
    • MOHAN Foundation’s activities
    • Role of NOTTO, ROTTO, SOTTO, ZTCC in organ donation

    Approximately 12 participants were present and they raised the following questions:

    • Whom to contact for eye donation?
    • How would MOHAN Foundation know if someone dies?

    After Q&A, Dr. Shila Mundala, Director of Jeevan Jyoti Blood Bank gave vote of thanks to participants as well as MOHAN Foundation.
