MOHAN Foundation Conducts Awareness Talk at OPD, RIMS

  • On June 12, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, in association with the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, conducted an organ donation awareness talk at the New Out Patient Department (OPD) Block, RIMS. The session was conducted by Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal, and she was accompanied by Mr. Elangbam Paringanba Singh, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal.

     

    Ms. Priya began the session with an interactive discussion to assess the participants’ knowledge and perceptions of organ donation. She then provided a comprehensive overview of organ donation, explaining the differences between living and deceased donation and highlighting its significance in saving lives. During the session, she emphasized the life-saving impact of organ donation, noting that a single donor can potentially save up to eight lives. She also spoke about the progress made in organ donation initiatives in Manipur, highlighting transplantation procedures carried out at the government and private healthcare institutions across the state.

     

    Furthermore, she explained the process through which hospitals maintain waiting lists for patients requiring organ transplants and provided an overview of the legal framework governing organ donation. She stressed that the buying and selling of human organs is strictly prohibited and punishable under the law.

     

    In the concluding part of the session, Ms. Priya guided participants on the procedure for pledging their organs and shared details of the toll-free helpline as well as the contact number of the Manipur office for any queries related to organ donation. The session concluded with the distribution of informational leaflets to all participants.

     

    Approximately 20 participants benefited from the awareness session.
