Organ Donation Awareness at Catholic Medical Centre, Manipur

  • On 18th January 2019, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the Catholic Medical Hospital in Koirengei village of Imphal, Manipur to conduct an awareness talk for the students of its nursing college.

    The CMC College of Nursing, established in 2010 is affiliated to Manipur University. The CMC Hospital is a 150-bedded multi-specialty hospital with 8 departments including an Interventional Cardiology Unit (the first in the state of Manipur). The charitable hospital is owned and managed by the mission Archdiocese of Imphal, Manipur.

    Mrs. Lalitha Raghuram, Country Director and Ms. Sorokhaibam Roma Devi, Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation were present at the nursing college to conduct the session. The session which began around 1:30 PM was attended by 46 nursing students, 3 nurses and 1 transplant surgeon.

    Mrs. Lalitha delivered the talk was able to cover the following topics:

    • Necessity and importance of organ donation
    • Brain death and the organs and tissues that could be donated after brain death
    • Myths related to organ donation
    • Importance of Donor cards

    A few questions were asked following her talk and some students also registered as organ donors and received donor cards. MOHAN Foundation thanks the CMC Hospital and Nursing College for the opportunity.
