On August 10, 2024, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, an organ donation ambassador from the MOHAN Foundation, delivered a talk to the students and staff of Holy Rosary Convent High School in Nuvem, Salcete, Goa.
The audience consisted of students from classes IX and X. Gabriel began by introducing himself and sharing his passion for raising awareness about organ donation within the community. His presentation covered various aspects of organ donation, including the legal framework, the organs that can be donated in cases of circulatory and brain stem death, and an explanation of what brain stem death involves.
To engage the students, Gabriel posed questions such as how many transplant hospitals exist in Goa and which organs are transplanted there. He rewarded correct answers with a pen, adding an interactive element to the session. He also stressed the importance of wearing helmets and seat belts while riding bikes or driving, urging the students to ensure their parents follow these safety practices as well.
After the talk, Sr. Carmen A.C., the headmistress of the school, thanked Mr. Gabriel for sharing his valuable and informative insights.
