Organ Donation Awareness Talk Conducted at RIMS, New OPD

  • On February 6, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, in association with the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, conducted an organ donation awareness talk at the New OPD, RIMS, as part of its ongoing public education and outreach initiatives. The session was led by Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi and Mr. Elangbam Paringanba Singh, Program Executives from MOHAN Foundation.

     

    Ms. Priya initiated the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation and highlighting its pivotal role in promoting ethical organ donation and transplantation across the country. She explained the concept of organ donation and emphasized its life-changing impact on individuals suffering from organ failure.

     

    She further outlined the key provisions of the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act (THOA), 1994, reiterating that the buying and selling of organs is a punishable offence under the law. The session also addressed common myths and misconceptions surrounding organ donation. Additionally, the process of pledging for organ donation was explained, including how individuals can register through authorized platforms and the importance of informing family members to ensure that their decision is honoured.

     

    In conclusion, informational leaflets on organ donation were distributed among the participants. Approximately 40 individuals were reached through the awareness session.
