On February 7, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, in association with the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, conducted an organ donation awareness talk at the Orthopaedics Outpatient Department (OPD), New OPD Block, RIMS. The session was facilitated by Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, Program Executive, and Mr. Elangbam Paringanba Singh, Program Executive, representing MOHAN Foundation.
Ms. Priya began the session by introducing the team and explaining the concept of organ donation. She also clarified the difference between living and deceased organ donation. She highlighted the critical donor shortage in the state of Manipur, emphasizing the wide gap between the demand for organs and their availability due to the low rate of deceased organ donations. She explained that organ donation provides renewed hope and a second chance at life for patients suffering from organ failure.
She further reiterated that the buying and selling of organs is illegal and is a punishable offense. Addressing common myths and misconceptions, she assured the participants that organ donation does not cause deformity to the donor’s body and that the dignity of the donor is always maintained.
The session concluded with a note of appreciation to the participants for their time and attentive participation. Ms. Priya encouraged them to consider pledging their organs instead of allowing the body to be wasted after death, highlighting that organ donation has the potential to save multiple lives and is one of the greatest gifts one can offer to humanity.
Informational leaflets on organ donation were distributed during the session. Close to 30 participants attended the awareness talk.
