Organ Donation Awareness Symposium at Gadag, Karnataka

  • Tatwadarsha Hospital and Kidney Foundation, Hubballi in association with MOHAN Foundation, organized an organ donation awareness symposium at Chikkatti Group of Educational institutions in Gadag on 11th August 2019. Around 1500 students and parents were present at the event.

    Green ribbons and brochures were distributed to the students at the start of the session. The awareness programme began with the lighting of lamp by His Holiness Pujya Sree Kallaiahajja (Sree Veereshwara Punyashrama, Gadag) and Sree Vedamurty Basavarajaswami Hidkimath (Chief Secretary - Sree Veereshwara Punyashrama).

    Dr. Sharan Alur, Urologist from Gadag gave an introduction about organ donation and briefly spoke about the importance of registering as organ donors. Dr. Venkatesh Moger, Professor and Head of Dept. Nephrology - KIMS Hubballi (Visiting Consultant, Tatwadarsha Hospital, Hubballi) spoke about organ donation and importance of having healthy kidneys in our lives.

    Mr. Aakash Shinde (Transplant Coordinator Tatwadarsha Hospital Hubballi) spoke about brain stem death. Sheetal Mundada - Transplant Coordinator from MOHAN Foundation spoke about the Foundation’s activities and contributions.

    A counter was also set up for audience who wished to register themselves as organ donors and more than 50 people registered. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to the Chikkatti Group of Educational institutions for giving the opportunity.
