  • On February 18, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, Uttarakhand, was invited to conduct an organ donation awareness session at Chandrabhaga Colony, Rishikesh. The invitation was extended by Mr. Ram Ashish Rajbhar organizer of the camp. Mr. Arun Sharma, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Uttarakhand, conducted the session and was accompanied by Mr. Sanchit Arora, Project Leader, stationed at AIIMS Rishikesh.

The program was organized on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Suheldev. The initiative aimed to create awareness about organ donation among community members and encourage informed discussions on the subject.

Mr. Arun actively engaged with hospital staff, volunteers, and people present in the blood camp. He provided a detailed overview of organ donation and transplantation, covering key aspects such as eligibility criteria, organ donation during life and after death, brain death and its distinction from coma, eye and skin donation procedures, the Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994, living kidney transplantation facilities at AIIMS Rishikesh, and common myths and facts related to organ donation.

Participants raised several relevant queries, including:

    • Whether families can choose to donate specific organs, such as only the eyes?

    • Availability of a skin bank facility in Uttarakhand.

    • The estimated cost of kidney transplantation at AIIMS Rishikesh.

    • Whether the ABHA card provides financial assistance for kidney transplantation.

    • Whether donor families receive any support or benefits in cases of deceased organ donation.

    • The process for online organ donor registration through the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization website.

Approximately 100 participants attended the session, and three individuals pledged to donate their organs by completing the online registration process on the NOTTO website.
