  • MOHAN Foundation was invited by SKPD Boys School, Chennai for an awareness program on 17th February 2024. Ms. Arshiya Fathima H (Helpline Counselor) &  Ms. Varsha (Stella Maris College intern) represented MOHAN Foundation to explain the concept of organ donation.

Mr. Suresh welcomed and introduced the resource person. He shared the positive thoughts on Organ donation to students. There were around 60 students and 10 staff in the auditorium. Ms. Varsha distributed the green ribbon and information brochures to all students and teachers.

Ms. Arshiya started the session with quiz and later elaborated on the Concepts of Organ Donation and Transplantation which included who, what and when donation can happen, Brain Death, skin and eye donation, voluntary body donation and usage of Helpline number.

After the session post cards were distributed and students wrote a note to an organ failure patient still in the waiting list.  This exercise brought out their feelings of empathy for a very sick person.

The main queries in the session were:

    1. Actual process of pledging and organ donation in hospital.

    2. The organ allocation criteria and system of organ sharing and wait listing were also discussed

    3. Does gender of the recipient and donor matter

    4. Time factor for transplanting

    5. Can a person with any illness or diseases donate organ?

Ms. Arshiya answered all their doubts effectively and provided a lot of information on Organ donation.

MOHAN Foundation, thanks Mrs. Leela (Headmistresses)and Mr. Suresh (Tamil Teacher) for making this event possible.
